I'm very excited about developing the Know-Your-Haiku game in time for the July MYFest workshop, and obviously a crucial part of that is finding materials I can use for this educational, non-commercial project. Public domain materials are very limited when it comes to English-language haiku, so you can imagine my delight when I discovered the Living Haiku Anthology, which has a Creative Commons license geared towards educational (non-commercial) reuse. For information about their licensing, see Guidelines for Inclusion of Haiku in the Living Haiku Anthology.

So, I will be able to use some of the beautiful poems here to create the haiku poem card deck to pair up with the feature card deck that I will be putting together myself based on a wide range of haiku resource materials that I have in my own personal library and/or which are available at the Internet Archive.

Ideally, the way I see the Know-Your-Haiku game working is that people would be making their own haiku poem card decks, but at the same time I know I need to provide starter decks just to inspire people if they are beginners on the haiku path. I was really not sure how I would be able to do that... but now thanks to this wonderful online project, I can see the way! So, the very first thing I want to do is make sure this website is included at the Internet Archive's Wayback Machine (pause... yes, it is abundantly archived there!), and then I will start looking for beautiful poems to put into the game, yay!

THANK YOU to all the volunteers at Living Haiku Anthology for this great project!
